The early years of my life
were spent surrounded by nature in the country side of Japan
- the land of my birth. As a child, sick, alone in bed, the
open window led to my fascination with the mystery of the
cosmos, creation, eternity, the unseen, the intangible. Imagination
and reverie led my internal world
Creativity and classical music, poetry,
drama, literature was my escape from the chaos of post-WW
II Japan.
As a young woman, the world tour with my
father, awakened my sense of beauty, and subsequently a passionate
desire to express all that was within me in art. The territory
beyond human understanding; wonderment of night sky, unfathomable
literature of Shakespeare, religious land of Tibet, mysterious
happenings around us.…
I was encouraged to express my inner self
in abstract painting at the Art Students league of New York,
1973-78. I discovered color to be the tool to represent my
emotions.
The five-day sketch of Mt. Fuji changed the trajectory of
my expression. I was awakened again. I visualized gold and
metallic colors to be the luminosity of my soul.
Every day, I am immersed in my art. I paint,
or draw, collage, create objects of art. Instinct and intuition
guide my love of art. |
